The Japanese word kenmei translates as "wise; wisdom; intelligence; prudence" and is composed of the kanji  (read as "ken") meaning "wise" and  (read as "mei") meaning "light". Dictionaries correctly give the translation for both kenmei and chie as "wisdom".
