Gala when pronounced GAH-lah is written in Japanese as:    This is read ga-ra and is a phonetic translation to katakana. Katakana is the standard way names are translated to Japanese and, just like in English, the characters have no meaning. To be absolutely correct when translating names, use katakana as shown above. If you are looking for meaning then consider the name's meaning in kanji. The name Gala means "Enjoyment". The word Enjoyment in Japanese is  which is read yukai.
