Camille when pronounced KAH-meel is written in Japanese as:     This is read kami-ru and is a phonetic translation to katakana. Katakana is the standard way names are translated to Japanese and, just like in English, the characters have no meaning. To be absolutely correct when translating names, use katakana as shown above. One also sees the same pronunciation without the emphasis on the second syllable with the romaji kamiru. Also common is the French pronunciation KA-mee-yu with the romaji kami-yu.
