The Japanese word rei is a single kanji rei meaning "Respect." Respect (rei) is used in everyday Japanese though a more proper everyday word for Respect is sonkei. Respect (rei) is more properly a Martial Arts term that is an important component of Bushido, the Samurai Code of Chivalry and is one of the Seven Virtues of Bushido.
