Beginner's Mind in Japanese is shoshin which is written in kanji as  The Japanese word shoshin is composed of the kanji sho meaning "First Time" or "Beginning" and shin meaning "Mind", "Heart", or "Spirit." Shoshin refers to a spirit of eager learning without preconceptions. This is the way to approach the study of anything new and, more importantly, the study of what one is already familiar with.
